I loved the funny one-liners in Skyfall, my favorite was the tube station "he's keen to get home" remark. Almost like going back to the 70s and 80s Bond movies again with Roger Moore.
I think that's the thing I wasn't keen about with Skyfall. The whole thing was just off. The 'funny' moments, which were supposed to be intentionally funny, didn't really fit in with the rest of the film, it was all very confusing.
The 70s/80s Bonds, though hilarious, are times that I don't really want to go back to, but glad you enjoyed the film and have a different opinion of it either way!
The whole thing with Bond taking M to some remote shithole in Scotland with no guns to "protect her" was ridiculous. I had to bite my lips not to laugh when she died :)
Oh come on! No love for the CGI Komodo Dragon? that thing was hilariously fake.
Any way, nice list Cherokee. Can't say I found M's death funny ( I'm one of the suckers who found the "dying in someone's arms" cliche actually a touching way for her to go) but I agree with everything else 100%.
I forgot about the Komodo Dragon while doing this list, it has to be said - and you're right, it was hilariously fake!
Saying that, it took me about 10 minutes to get a screenshot of Bond with Bardem, and then god knows how long to get Bond jumping on that train (and not being too blurred) so by that point, I'd have given up on trying to find the spot with the Komodo Dragon in it!
And there is nothing wrong with liking the "dying in someone's arm" style death. Lord knows how much I like a sappy romantic comedy ending!
Neither did I when I first heard the song, until I listened to it, in full, watching the film. It's so damn distracting and I can't believe no one else picked it up.
LET DE SKY FALLZ AS IT CRUMMBLLEZZ WE WILLZ STAND TWALLL

ReplyDeleteI knew you'd think that bit was funny like I did! And I agree, the whole Scotland bit was really weird and kind of off-putting.
